New stuff!

  I don't usually do commissions, but when I do, I steal a seven year old internet meme to explain that I tried out vellum and a nib pen for the first time.  Used yesterday's tea to make the vellum yellow and gross. It is the blueprints for a World of Warcraft goblin zeppelin. A lot of inside jokes - slow work with the ink-dipping and no "undo" button, but I dig it.  Will try this kind of thing again.

Life Drawing: 1 and 2 minute warm-ups and some 10 minute studies.

Taking the Chris Oatley "Magic Box" course.

Take an old fancy portrait, study an animal, do some colour comps of the animal dressed up like the portrait-figure.   I give you a fancy tree kangaroo.

 Also some sketches from class - short studies of samurai and Kung Fu fighters.

Crazy rainbow pencil sketching.

I got a pencil that has a grid of red blue and yellow.  As you draw it is kinda hard to control what colour comes out.  Which is kinda magical and kinda tricky.  Good for frogs, fish, and magic little dragons.

Course finished? Layouts finished? Nothing left to draw!?

Better get sketching then.  So many more bad drawings to get through before everything I do is excellent. Sketching from reference - building up my visual library. Military gear.  Robutz.  Helicopter.  Bugs. A dried fish-head.

Tried out some markers!  I like 'em.

Final from the World Building course.

Skipped life drawing to finish this up. Learnin about colours.  Sometimes a brown is a purple.  Other times, it is a green.  Magic.
